Music has a very high profile at Sir Thomas Abney Primary. We believe in providing an engaging and stimulating curriculum. Children are encouraged to listen to and explore a broad range of music, based in British and western traditions and forms, as well as the music of their communities.

Weekly Spanish lessons are taught to all children in years 3 to 6. The scheme of work has been developed in partnership with other Hackney schools.

Encouraging children to lead a active, healthy lifestyle is a priority at Sir Thomas Abney. Within the curriculum all children have two hours each week timetabled for Physical Education (PE).

The school teaches the locally agreed Religious Education curriculum.

Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) Education

Personal, Social, Health and Economic education is a planned programme of learning through which children and young people acquire the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to manage their lives, now and in the future.
