Computing

Home > Provision  > Curriculum > Computing

The development of Information and Communications Technology is changing both in the home and in the community and pervades every aspect of our lives.

Through effective teaching of the Computing curriculum, at Sir Thomas Abney, the children have many opportunities to use technology during their school day and to develop learning across the whole curriculum. We use a range of technology to enhance learning, though we must stress that technology is not a substitution for pencil or paper, it is used to help deliver rich, multi-media ideas in a creative and innovative way. Children of all ages, from Nursery to Year 6, have access to iPad’s, computers and programmable devices such as beebots and probots to develop their digital literacy and understanding of algorithms. We believe that through purposeful experiences we are enabling our pupils to become independent, confident digital learners with skills to support their future careers.
