Friends of STA is a group made up of parents/carers and staff at Sir Thomas Abney and is also a registered charity. We aim to bring the whole school community together by holding fun events throughout the year for parents, children and staff.

Through these events, we raise money for the school to help with the cost of school trips, games, toys and books etc.  All parents and carers that give their time to Friends of STA and help out at the events, do so on a voluntary basis, so that all of the money raised goes to the school.

Although FoSTA is not a forum for raising concerns and issues, Senior staff at the school regularly meet with us and inform us about new things that are happening at school and give us the chance to ask questions and also listen to ideas and suggestions that parents may have.

Friends of STA get together on most Friday mornings at the school, just after we have dropped the children off, to have a coffee and a chat.  Meetings are very informal and everyone is welcome, including parents and carers with babies or pre-school children.

How can you get involved?

We would love more parents to get involved, so whether you are new to the school or have been around for a while, but can give some time, energy or ideas, please come along to one of our Friday morning meetings.  It’s a great opportunity to meet other parents over a coffee and to support your school and your child’s education.

Our key aims

  • To create a sense of community between parents, carers, children and the school.
  • Fundraise to provide resources and experiences for the children in the school.
  • To be a focus for communication between parents, carers and the school.
