Welcome to Year 4 – Redwood and Sycamore

Work for Children during School Closure:

From week beginning 27th April onwards: Google Classroom

You will be aware from the emails and texts we have sent to all parents that we have begun using “Google Classroom” to support your child’s learning in the coming weeks.

You should have all received details of your child’s login and they should now be well into their first week’s work- if you are having any difficulty with logging on, please contact the class teacher through the class email. Please read the How to Access Google Classroom to help you. It is vital that the children are communicating with their peers and accessing the work.

Teachers will be providing up to 2-3 pieces of work a day- they are scheduled to come out daily at 9am so that the children get used to working every day. Your child will receive a range of subjects and they can access the music and PE classrooms too. Some of this work will be project based and should take your child some time to complete.

Teachers will specify which work needs to be sent back to the google classroom. As I am sure you are aware, the teachers are receiving a large amount of work so any support you can give your child at home will really help. Answers to some of the work (including maths work) will generally be emailed out towards the end of the week or included on flip charts for the children to mark and improve independently.

We are actively supporting parents, carers and children to access the work online and ask for patience as we address any technical issues. We are happy to assist if you are having difficulties, so please get in touch.

If your child has completed their green workbooks, we do have more which you can collect from the school office from Monday 4th May between 9.30am and 12.00pm.

We are continuing to monitor Accelerated Reader for Years 2-6, Tapestry for EYFS and Year 1 and Mathletics for Years 1-6. All children are familiar with these online tools and we would like to remind you that it is imperative that your child continues to read daily to support their learning.

Alongside regular learning, it is very important for children to remain mentally and physically well. Here is a useful toolkit that can help My Wellbeing Toolkit – Coronavirus

Many thanks for your ongoing support.

Please stay safe and well.
